Mindfulness Classes

Thanks for stopping by!

Hopefully you came past because you’re interested in mindfulness and you’re thinking about coming to a class.

Keep reading and you’ll learn why studying with us is popular, not with people who are “spiritual” or “enlightened”, but with ordinary people like you and me.

DSC_0034I’m Oli Doyle from Peace Through Mindfulness, I wrote“Mindfulness Plain & Simple” and I’ve been teaching mindfulness workshops in Melbourne (and Bendigo, Sydney and London) since 2009. Above all, though, I’m an ordinary guy. I have a family, a job and have had my share of problems over the years. But my life has changed dramatically since I started practising meditation in 2003. Life was pretty up and down back then, but now things are smooth and easy (most of the time).  When I noticed these changes happening, I wanted to share them with others, but for many, meditation seemed too new age or religious. I want to change that. Why? Because…

Meditation is good!

In my experience, heaps of people are interested in meditation/mindfulness (I use the terms interchangeably), but few actually learn it. Of those who do, even fewer develop a sustainable practice, and this is partly because most teachings are clouded by concepts or complication. Much of the teaching available is either religious, or fairly “new age”, which is not for everybody.

My workshops are different

I use simple, everyday language to explain the basis of the techniques and the way thoughts and feelings affect us (if we let them). I focus on practical exercises, which are simple and easy to repeat, so you can start practising at home straight away. I have condensed thousands of years of teaching into three and a half hours, and we might even finish early!

Why study with Peace Through Mindfulness?

Our class sizes are small (no more than 20), and we keep the cost as low as possible, but what really sets us apart is our commitment to empowering you to be able to practice on your own. This drives us to continually simplify the teaching until it is as straightforward as possible. When students come along, they are often shocked at how simple mindfulness can be, because often it is made complicated unnecessarily.

What can I expect?

You can expect to have fun, feel safe and learn. You can expect a relaxed, informal environment, conducive to developing new skills. In three and a half hours, you will have mastered the techniques,(otherwise you can come to my next workshop free of charge). What you do from then is up to you, but we provide as many free resources as we can muster to inspire you to practice regularly. We also offer email support to all Past Participants for life, (if that’s not long enough, please let us know).

For a review of a presentation I did at the 2010 Mental Health Services Conference in Sydney, click here.

How much?

The cost is $70, which includes a copy of “Mindfulness Plain & Simple” and email support for life. If you can’t afford $70, please contact me.

Where and when?

21st of April, 2012, 1pm-4.30pm at Northcote Town Hall. Book here.

How do I book?

Click here and you will be taken to a booking form. Payment instructions will then be emailed to you.

Well, thanks for stopping by. I hope to hear from you or even see you at a workshop. Keep going down the page to see what some previous students have said about my workshops.

Cheers,

Oli Doyle

What past students have said:

“I participated in the Mindfulness workshop in late 2010 and since that time I have enjoyed the centred way of being which I learned in that weekend.  It has given me a sense of control and perspective which I thought I could only witness in others but not experience myself.  The way of moving through life taught in this workshop is unequalled having experienced other programs which provided temporary sense of emotional release but not providing a stable sense and perspective on which to live your life.

I found the weekend workshop enjoyable, fun and funny.  Oli Doyle is a unique person wrapped in understatement which penetrates your being and allows the experience of mindfulness to continue within you without the need for his further contact.  It really is a gift you should really give yourself because it really allows you to live your own life.” -Trish Devlin

“It was great to have the opportunity to translate what I read in your book to a  deeper level. I have learnt the skill of being present in the moment without getting caught up in all of the distractions.”                                                               - Melissa Phillis - www.neurowise.com.au

“I have done two mindfulness workshops now, I find them relaxed, unthreatening and very useful for reminding me how to stop and reflect on what I am doing and worrying about. Puts things into perspective. I particularly enjoyed the walking meditation in the parkland, seeing and hearing everything differently. Mixed group of people from all  backgrounds but all want to be there for the same reason. Very safe and supportive environment with good resources to help you continue your practice at home.
Thanks heaps for a great introduction to a topic I was a little afraid about! You’re a great teacher and guide Oli – cheers.” -Karen

“I attended Oli’s Mindfulness workshop in January 2011 and found it an “amazing” experience, when I say “amazing”  I mean personally, professionally and spiritually. Personally it gave me the time and insight to be in tune with myself, what I call being in balance, “head, heart and gut” .  Professionally it has helped me manage my stress levels as well as incorporating some of  the techniques  with the families that I work with, such as being  in the moment and focusing on your breath or body.  Spiritually it offered looking at the bigger picture of being connected to self,  personal environment and nature.  If you are considering attending a workshop open your mind to the possibilities that will be offered to you. Don’t block your potential of self growth,  Mindfulness becomes a daily technique which enriches your life.”                                                                         -Juliana Cafarella
